I confirm the same problem in Gutsy, with kernel 2.6.22-9-generic, in a Sony Vaio VGN-FS415B. It just gives me a delay at boot, the graphic boot image disappears and it continues normally in console mode. Afterwards, the system looks to work rather smoothly.
