Steps to reproduce:
1. In gnome-tweak-tool, turn on "Have file manager handle the desktop" option.
2. Now, when you use Alt-Tab you can see that there is more than one Files 
windows that you can switch to (indicated by the triangle-arrow below Files 
icon).
3. When you try to see the list of those windows (by pressing the down arrow 
when Files icon is highlighted), gnome shell crashes.

Also, this is what I found in syslog after the crash:
