so X works fine or doesnt work at all? did you install the drivers teh linux-restricteed-modules-2.6.17-7? What version of usplash are you using? if X isnt broken what stopped working? after installing the nvidia drivers did you change to the nvidia drivers in xorg.conf file? did you run sudo nvidia-glx-config enable?
