Bhaavan Merchant - Unless the HTML5 videos on YouTube are encoded in MPEG-4 the necessary kernal and mesa components are in Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty Tahr". Your GPU doesn't support hardware-accelerated decoding of MPEG-4. You will still need to extract the firmware as described at http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/VideoAcceleration/
You will also need Firefox 26 or later for the HTML5 video gstreamer support and will have to install gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly and gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg. If you want to use the gstreamer 1.0 versions (gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad, gstreamer1.0 -plugins-ugly and gstreamer1.0-libav) you will need to wait for the upstream Mozilla developers to fix https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=806917 - they are getting close. Jarno Suni (jarnos) - as you have different hardware you have a different (although similar) bug. ** Bug watch added: Mozilla Bugzilla #806917 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=806917 ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1165653 Title: Firefox html5 video performance To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1165653/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
