Public bug reported:

Chromium browser locks up with multiple tabs open when running Ubuntu
14.04.....it does NOT cause a system crash as has
been reported elsewhere, and apport does not start or file a bug report AFAIK.
The only "fix" was to close the browser &
re-open; this worked for a while, but then locked up again.

This problem was NOT seen running Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS or Mint 16.

This was happening frequently with Shockwave Flash v 11.2 r202 that is
the default install.

I opened a new thread on the Ubuntu forums to get some
help....http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2205971.
Another user reported a similar problem using the Chrome browser, but stated it
would clear up after a couple of
minutes.

One of the forum mods suggested it might be related to the shockwave version
that is reaching end of life support
from Adobe, and told me about the new version for Chromium titled "Pepper
Flash".

After a web search I found an article about Pepper Flash being added to
the 14.04 repositories. I then did the following:

sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree

sudo update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree --install

This installed shockwave flash v 12.0.0.44

This seems to have fixed the problem as I am now able to open multiple tabs
without any lock ups; after running for
over 8+ hours it still is working correctly.

my system info:

tommy3@tommy3-Inspiron-531s:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
Release: 14.04 with kernel 3.13.0-8 generic

Chromium version used in this browser: 32.0.1700.107

If more info is needed, let me know.
