The approach in the proposed document is to provide conditional guidance
depending on version. However, that's not how the official desktop guide
works. The desktop guide always targets a specific version, and the
current development version is 14.04. Consequently I don't see how the
contents of your document would easily fit the desktop guide.

One important point you make is about the need to install IBus IM
engines - which typically is done by installing corresponding languages
- to be able to use input methods. I just committed a note about that.

I also added a note about the brand new button in Text Entry which lets
you open the setup dialog for the selected input method.

I see no need to include anything about ibus-setup, though. Text Entry
takes over the functionality of ibus-setup, so to speak. Please let us
know if you still anticipate situations where it makes sense to use
ibus-setup in 14.04.

I have updated http://people.ubuntu.com/~gunnarhj/keyboard-layouts.html
with the latest additions. Do you think it's sufficient now as regards
Ubuntu 14.04?
