(a) ipython: required for the corresponding "interactive python shell" gourmet plugin (which is part of the upstream code and can be activated through the Plugins menu item). As comparable requirements (like python-gtkspell for the spell check plugin, or python-beautifulsoup for the web page import plugin) have so far been part of Recommends, too, I added ipython to that section instead of using Suggests. (b) I emailed a modified version of gourmet.diff -- with only the changes to Debian's 0.16.1-1 -- to the maintainer of the Debian package right after filing this bug report, but I felt I shouldn't wait for him to react in order not to waste too much time after trusty's FF.
