For me, setting up the DUN-Connection worked flawlessly in Ubuntu 13.04. I could still use the existing connection after upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10. Once I deleted the paired phone from bluetooth-settings, then trying to re-add it, I get the timeout message after ticking the DUN- checkbox.
