After upgrading the kernel to 3.11.0-17-generic, my machine won't boot. It just
shows a dark purple screen. No boot splash appears. If I boot the recovery
kernel it ends up repeating this message over and over again:
nfsmount: need a path
If I choose to boot 3.11.0-15-generic instead, the machine is booted up
within 10 seconds and works fine.
I am unable to switch to other consoles when trying to boot 3.11.0-17, so I
can't find any error messages, but from messages given by the recovery kernel,
it is probably doing the same thing (trying for a network root instead of the
harddrive) over and over again. It would seem that it can't figure out how to
talk to the harddrive?
I am doing EFI boot on a Samsung 840 SSD and the root partition is a standard
ext4 created automatically by Ubuntu 12.04 install.
