Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xgl

Hi,

I have a wacom tablet that works as an extended input device under Xorg
-- Gimp, Inkscape et al can see it correctly and process stylus pressure
and tilt values that are reported by the device.

(Note that I had to reconfigure the standard "Configured Mouse" device
entry to point at a device-specific /dev node rather than
/dev/input/mice for this to be the case - but that's not the problem
that I'm reporting.)

If I reconfigure my machine to use Xgl rather than the standard Xorg X
server, extended input devices are no-longer visible to X applications
-- despite the fact that the server configuration is unchanged, and both
of the X server logs in the Xgl configuration indicate that the Wacom
drivers are loaded and the Wacom tablet detected.

The end result is that, whilst the tablet can still function as a basic
pointer device, the additional tilt and pressure information is not
available.

Google suggests that this is a not-uncommon problem (See [0],[1]), but I
didn't see a bug open to track the issue.

Cheers,
David
