I have the same issue. 14.04 64 bit on a Toshiba Satellite S55 notebook. Updated daily.
I can enable the password input when I re-select my keyboard. ------------- I have a different problem that might or might not be related: when I suspend my computer, sometimes I can't enter my password when prompted. Keyboard does not respond.
