I have done numerous tests including mounting non-encrypted, non-root
directories successfully.  After all the tests my only conclusion was
that it was due to the fact the directory I was trying to export is
encrypted.  Also I've verified encryption in that directory works
properly.  Only NFS won't work.  I've tried SSHFS and SAMBA
successfully.
