Had same problem on Lifebook A512 - Ubuntu 13.10 64bit and 14.04 Live version.
The touchpad's scroll and mid-click (Left+Right button) were not working.

I tried the commands suggested on #14 and this similar workaround
http://nwoki.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/multitouch-fix-for-alps-touchpad
Sorry, can't tell which one of the two methods worked, I'm totally "noob" with
regard to kernel modules (made a lot of confiuson and receivde e few error
messages)... anyway after a reboot I can tell that the touchpad is now working!

This means that there must be something good into the psmouse-alps-1.3
driver (http://www.dahetral.com/public-download/alps-psmouse-dlkm-
for-3-2-and-3-5/view) that could fix the problem.

If there is any way to help to get more informations (run commands, post file
settings...) just let me know.
