Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz
When I install Compiz-Fusion from the packages (in the official repositories on Gutsy, and from Amaranth's backports repository on Feisty), my system crashes to a hard lock (i.e., I have to do Alt+SysRq+RSEIUB) seemingly randomly when Compiz is running. Nothing in particular seems to trigger it. I could have no windows open, and it will just freeze, or things could run smoothly for a while without any problems, but it inevitably crashes within ~an hour. When I installed Compiz-Fusion on Feisty by compiling it straight from the GIT repository, I didn't have this problem *at all* - I might have gotten one hard lock in ~2 months of heavy use. 3.4GHz P4 1GB RAM nVidia 7600 GS 256MB (proprietary driver installed via restricted manager) ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Compiz-Fusion gives hard locks when installed from packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134446 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
