Ok, I installed the test kernel set from your directory (I don't seem to be able to get -18) And from a system installed on an internal hard drive I do not get any errors at all. I did a file system check/repair from gparted on the external USB drive with no problems. I reinstalled the same ISO on the same USB stick while accessing as many things on the external drive as possible... still no problems. So there is a link between running the system on an external USB drive (or at least this one) and this error. I will now reboot to the external partition and select your bug kernel to make sure the problem is still there.
