Public bug reported: I am using Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS Release: 10.04 2.6.32-57 generic PAE kernel on HP 8540w notebook. When I wake it up after sleeping, top ALWAYS shows kackpid as using 97% to 100% of CPU. It can really slow down the computer. The -54 through -57 kernels all show this same behavior. I've researched a lot about this kacpid issuse on the net but can find nothing newer than about 2010 or 2011. A few older posts have links to websites that they say give a good solution but those sites no longer exist, so I am in the dark. Two linux guru sysadmin types that I work with can't figure how to stop/restart kacpid or suggest what to do. The only thing that fixes the problem is a restart.
