if you dont have synaptic or aptitude will be very hard to do smth. I can suggest you to download the .deb package for synaptic or aptitude and to try to install them manually. maybe it will work. Or if not you will have two ways: One solution will be to reinstall the system. or to wait till the bug is fixed.
