Public bug reported: Nothing is really broken here, but the system think so. It asks the user to abort the generating process because of inactivity before finished. The problem is lack of information that this could take a couple of minutes, and lack of some kind of progress indicator maybe.
I installed pidgin and pidgin-otr and then tried to generate fingerprint from the menu: ==> Tools > Plugins and check "Off-the-record Messaging", then click on "Config" (at the bottom) and then on the "Generate" button to generate a fingerprint. After this an empty box appeared (no progress indicator) saying that it was generating fingerprint. This took about 2 minutes and I 4 times was asked by the system to abort either the genarating or some other part of pidgin, but I clicked "continue" or similar until it told me that generating was finished - lucky me. ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1300780 Title: pidgin-otr pidgin take to long time to generate fingerprint, causes error message before finished To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1300780/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
