Appreciate support.. The issue is still that this system (Duel Core AMD Opteron 175 on MSI 7125 K8N Neo4 mobo) produces no sound in linux (UBUNTU 12.04 Kernel 3.11.0-18-generic) although sound fine on Winxp.
Did have soundblaster audigy sound card installed when reported this problem 2 days ago. Now, trying to resolve or at least make issue less complicated, removed sound card to try just the integrated, onboard sound (7.1 channel audio codec RealTek ALC850 Compliance with AC97 v2.3 Spec. Meet PC2001 audio performance requirement).
