Public bug reported: The problem : I think many people had never read the content of the Help provided by the system with "yelp". This help contents a lot of useful information for a new user (like "how to install new software" etc), and I'm sure the ones who need those informations don't know it exists and search the web, forums, wikis, or IRC to find what they want.
The solution : I suggest that after the installation (at the first boot), Ubuntu open yelp (the system help), so the new user is not lost with a new system that he doesn't how to use it ... and can learn the basics of Ubuntu (how the desktop is organized, how to install a news software, etc). We can compare this with the guided start tour opened in Windows XP after the installation ... to introduce the user with the system. I think this new feature can do a lot in the integration of new users because they won't be lost with their new system and they wil see that everything is SIMPLE in Ubuntu :) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu should open yelp at first boot after install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134840 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
