The card is an NVidia 8600 GTS found at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130084 My PC has Feisty 32-bit, Gutsy 32-bit and Gutsy 64-bit. I think the problem is that under Gutsy (32 & 64 bit), after a reboot, the NVidia module seems to be lost. If I run the NVidia installer everything runs great. Compiz runs flawlessly too. Then when I reboot I get the error about the X server not being able to find the NVidia module. If I run the NVidia installer (and opting for it to builed the module) again then I can get back in to X by running startx. After a reboot I'm back to where I started. I don't get this behavior at all under Feisty. Everything installs and persists after reboots. I'll report some more information in a couple hours about what I experience under Gutsy. Let me know about any tests or whatever you want me to run and I'll run them. I'll have reinstall Gutsy as much as possible.
