Updating to google-chrome-beta (Setting up google-chrome-beta (35.0.1916.47-1)) does not fix the problem. Also wiping ~/.config/chromium and restarting chrome (stable or the -beta) does not fix it.
Note: I'm my case I'm not running Unity, nor Gnome.
