I was able to get it to work in ubuntu 14.04 by doing it the manual way. I downloaded all package files from here https://launchpad.net/~no1wantdthisname/+archive/openjdk- fontfix/+packages (amd64 or i386. not both) into a directory. and did a sudo dpkg -i *.deb on it via terminal.
