Well we kind of need rootfs still to execute GUI restart action. Note that upon clicking restart, the installer will bring the system down to plymouth and then ask to remove installation media (cd/usb stick). Why do you require USB key removal ahead of interacting with GUI restart dialog? There are options to preceed and automatically go into restart sequence (bypassing the GUI restart message box) and thus bring down system to plymouth without any interaction, plymouth will be displaying message to yank the installation media and reset using any method (e.g. pressing enter at plymouth, or hard power-cycling the machine) I doubt unity restart dialog would work either, if one yanks the hard drive out =) -- Regards, Dimitri. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308828 Title: System can't restart if user removes usb key and presses 'Restart' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1308828/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
