On the askubuntu thread, it was suggested that the problem might have something 
to do with the WiFi power management... well managing. Anyways, I have disabled 
it as per the instructions (sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off) and in the last half 
hour I have had no other disconnects. 
The output of
