I pulled the ralink card, and the freezes seem to have stopped, and I can now successfully suspend/resume (before nothing happened, and when I shut down instead, the computer did not quite finish turning off, leaving a network manager error related to the wireless card). Of course, now I can't access the internet on this computer either...
