let me make it real easy for ya.....

sudo apt-get purge pithos
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pithos*
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pithos

This removes any version you installed from the PPA, removes the PPA
from Software Sources, Updates and then Installs 0.3.17.2 from the
Ubuntu repository which is tested and does not have any issues with the
sound-indicator/sound-indicator-service.
