Digging around in gconf I see the following:

/apps/gnome-power-manager/actions/sleep_type_battery = hibernate
/apps/gnome-power-manager/timeout/sleep_computer_battery = 300

so g-p-m is behaving correctly in that it is hibernating after 5
minutes, but these keys are not exposed through the UI and I have
definitely never set them to have these values.

The machine was upgraded from Feisty, but it did not behave in this way
when running Feisty.
