Your bug title and description are rather ambiguous.  You can play most
media (sound and video) files by installing the following packages:

gst-plugins-bad1.0
gst-plugins-ugly1.0
gst-libav1.0

If you want to play back movies on DVD (other than ones that you filmed
yourself) you will also need to install the libdvdcss2 package.  See
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/PlayingDVDs for more
information.
