After searching for additional information on the KMilo package, I found
kmilo-legacy. this adds the "ThinkPad Laptop" section to the Control
Center, and provides the additional functionality I noted missing in my
last comment.

In the description of the package, it mentions that I should file a bug.
It felt it would suffice to comment on this already open bug.
