I have the same problem on Feisty with 2.6.16-20-generic kernel. In my case, I can associate with an access point, I can listen to traffic with tcpdump(8), but my sent packets get dropped (dropped counter is increasing in ifconfig) and therefore can't get a DHCP reply.
