Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ffmpeg

Hi,

ffmpeg is not recording environment X in Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake. I
tried to record with the command and receive the following output:

Command:
$ ffmpeg - vcodec mpeg4 - b 1000 - r 10 - g 300 - vd x11:0,0 - s 1024x768
~/file.avi

Output:
ffmpeg version CVS, build 3276800, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
  configuration: --extra-cflags=-fomit-frame-pointer -DRUNTIME_CPUDETECT
--build i486-linux-gnu --enable-gpl --enable-pp --enable-zlib --enable-vorbis
--enable-libogg --enable-theora --enable-a52 --enable-dts --enable-dc1394
--enable-libgsm --disable-debug --prefix=/usr
  built on Nov 24 2005 10:19:02, gcc: 4.0.3 20051121 (prerelease) (Ubuntu
4.0.2-4ubuntu3)
x11:0,0: No such file or directory
Could not find video grab device

ffmpeg of the repository (Universe) is not qualified to record this?

The parameters are not listed in the output (configuration):
-- extra-ldflags=-L/usr/X11R6/lib -- enable-x11grab

** Affects: ffmpeg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
