I'm on ubuntu 14.04, i'll try to find out the other stuff>>> I did get one error message during the kernel install but it referred to nvidia-304 which i assume to be GPU related (once the touchpad is sorted I'll be tackling the GPU, I've installed bumblebee with no issues but the discrete video card doesn't seem to be working)
