I had the following error with cheese: "libv4l2: error got 4 consecutive frame decode errors, last error: v4l-convert: libjpeg error: End Of Image"

(install guvcview using "sudo apt-get install guvcview" and) open guvcview 2. close guvcview 3. then open cheese and the webcam works!
