Ok, now the time has come to be scared. Given that upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04 broke my boot and bricked my computer because of this bug, and that I fixed it (long ago) using the methods that have been commented above, and I have a wonderfully working 14.04 (in dual boot with Windows 8),
WILL installing these updates in GRUB (see screenshot) break my boot again? Should I be worried about installing these updates? Please refrain from making educated guesses.
