hi Phillip, In first case, Ubiquity should at least warn the user, and recommend to abort and install Ubuntu from a UEFI-session.
In second case, the fix you describe is not enough if Ubiquity continues to blindly create an ESP when detecting the UEFI-session, then grub-install will be mistaken by that ESP.
