I'm using Unity. Clean account works, as does clearing hidden files in my existing account (I moved all hidden files except a select few like my browser and email settings).
I've been unable to find the setting that triggers the problem but my testing wasn't exhaustive. I have a full backup of my original hidden files. I have a working set-up now but happy to keep working on it to find the culprit if you can point me in the right direction.
