Same problem here on an ASUS A6K-Q014H: hibernate work only when compiz is unactivated (it work but fail on resume when compiz is activated)
The graphic driver is nvidia-glx ... and the graphic card is an Geforce 6200 Tc This is probably a nvidia-glx issue or a compiz one.
