with the last three or four kernel updates this error occured each time. For each upgrade system error occurs during the kernel install. Subsequently it occures once on the first reboot after the kernel update. Afterward, the video driver works fine and no complaints from the kernel.
On the second instance, however, the boot failed with some message (paraphrased) like video card not initialized. Subsequently reboot attempts and bios visits with no changes made, eventually resulted in X picking the driver and booting up. There was some 'zero' hex data in the log files..maybe 50 or so bytes.
