Strangely there haven't been any recent cups updates in Ubuntu 14.04: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/cups/+changelog, do you have any idea what update caused the problem? Have a look to see what packages have been installed in this file: /var/log/apt/history.log
