This is the exact same thing that happens to me. When I maximize a window and then select another window, bringing the main window out of Focus, the title bar disappears. It seems as I was reading, Metacity themes cause this. I'd like a patch or an official fix instead of just workarounds. I can move the window around just fine it's just annoying.
