I am embarrassed; I believe I messed up the printer myself via settings in the machine itself a few days ago. I just now fingered through settings and found "reset network settings"; did that and deleted all the broken versions anda new install went along correctly? Test page printed without error. If it holds for a few days I'll say repaired/solved.
