Additional information :

This problem occurs with the default driver : i.e. x.Org X server.

My graphical is NVIDIA EN6600 silencer.
So I tested the additional drivers :

version 304.117 from nvidia-304 (proprietary, tested)
version 173.14.39 from nvidia-173 (proprietary)
version 304.117 from nvidia-304-updates (proprietary)
x.Org X server

---

Then the behaviour is slightly different.

With 173 - only one monitor appears. Probably a driver with no dual
monitor.

So I stayed with the recommanded [ nvidia-304 (proprietary, tested) ] ; I have
got the green line.
Now I can disable only one monitor. But that's the one declared as primary one
( LG 20" ).

Other remark - for the NVIDIA application. The button "apply" does not apply.
Once the configuration is saved,
a reboot is required. Then X configuration eventually applies.

My config might explore the unusual cases. LG monitor 1600x1200 horizontal +
NEC 1680x1050 Vertical.
Ubuntu+Unity perfectly manages this setup - except for the slowness and the
ongoing xorg crashes.
With Lubuntu/LXDE no crash !
