Had the same problem. Suspicious, I then completely purged mono and monodevelop from my system and did:
apt-get install mono-complete monodevelop monodevelop-nunit monodevelop-debugger-gdb But, still, when trying to run any program from within monodevelop I get "cannot execute" because "filename has not been set". I then do `apt-get install xterm`, close monodevelop, re-open, and now it works.
