I think Ubuntu doesn't like acx. In 6.06 and 6.10 there was a bug (a wrong link, easy to fix), that was fixed in 7.04. Now this bug, I compiled myself the driver with the patch for the new kernel and it works. I don't want to wait 8.04. I suggest also to use ndiswrapper for the WPA, waiting for the new acx-mac80211.
