Could you do the following: - clear all media, unplug the sd card and reboot (reinstall is also good) - start phablet-shell - do "tail -f .cache/upstart/mediascanner-2.0.log" - insert SD card
You should get logging output telling what files mediascanner is finding and inserting into the database. If this is happening, then the fault lies somewhere in the scope/query machinery. If this is not happening, please copypaste here what is printed in the log.
