i have the same issue, though it is not really randomly disconnecting, but disconnecting 100% of the time every few minutes an ntfs external hdd.
Kernel is Linux htpc 3.16.0-20-generic #27-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 1 17:35:12 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux on Ubuntu Gnome Unicorn. part of my syslog: http://pastebin.com/qXHX6pHN i disconnected and reconnected several times while i tried to copy seeral large files over. finally i gave up and connected it via usb2 which is working fine. i actually always had issue with usb3 on linux. on some kernel/distribution versions it worked on most it didn't. it either just caused a lot of errors trying to access the drive or disconnected or what ever. but there were version were it worked without any problems. usb3 does not seem to be well support. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1050352 Title: [Gigabyte P55A-UD4] External USB 3.0 hard drive randomly disconnects and connects To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1050352/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
