After some struggling with creating a bootable USB stick (ran into bug #1325801) I did a real install of 14.10. Could still not reproduce the saving problem. OTOH I encountered another problem: Some keys, e.g. å ä ö and backspace did not work, so poedit is still useless to me on a fresh 14.10 install.
The fact that it works for me on a not-so-fresh (but updated) 14.10 may indicate that the poedit package misses some dependencies. The question is which packages should be added to the depends list...
