Having the same issue. Using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS trusty tahr , libapache2 -mod-mono_2.11+git20130708.6b73e85-4ubuntu1_amd64.deb .
@rodney-edmondson: if you do a `/etc/init.d/apache2 stop` you can remove or reinstall. Does anyone know if it has any consequences?
