Brian, the machine locks so there is no normal way to preserve the
syslog, not even getting to a console.  Restarting loses all the
information of the Live session.  So what I tried was inserting a USB
stick, unmounting it, remounting it rw sync, moving syslog to the stick,
and symlinking /var/log/syslog to the syslog on the USB stick.  Attached
is the result but nothing stands out to me, at least not at the end of
the log.  It did not seem to capture anything.  Was the method wrong or
should a different log be chosen?
